Pankh aur Parwaaz: A Grand Celebration of Reverence and Remembrance
February 6, 2026Doon International School (DIS), New Chandigarh, recently hosted its Junior Annual Function, “Festival Mystique,” a vibrant celebration of global culture and unity. The celebration commenced with the auspicious lighting of the ceremonial lamp, a radiant symbol of the light of knowledge dispelling the shadows of ignorance. The occasion was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Ms. Simrita Mann, the school Director, whose pioneering vision serves as the guiding force for the institution’s excellence. The guest of honor, Ms. Vimmi Bhullar, IAS (2018 Batch), Additional Secretary cum Director, Social Justice and Empowerment, Punjab, further elevated the evening’s prestige. Her presence, alongside distinguished guests Colonel (Retired) Manjit Singh and a seasoned educationist Mrs. Baljit Kaur (Retired), Ex Principal, Army Public School, Dehradun, underscored the school’s deep-rooted connection to leadership and academic brilliance.
The highlight of the evening was a spectacular cultural show that took the audience on a journey around the world. The “young prodigies” of DIS displayed incredible talent, transitioning from the spiritual serenity of “Ram Aarti” and “Radha Krishna Utsav” to the high-energy rhythms of the “Brazil Carnival” and Spain’s “La Tomatina.” From the grace of Japan’s “Cherry Blossom” to the festive warmth of “Christmas” and the modern energy of “K-Pop,” the performances spanned a wide range of traditions. The show featured the atmospheric allure of “Halloween,” the primal power of a “Tribal Dance,” and a high-spirited “Baisakhi” finale that left the audience enthralled. Beyond the performances, the school held a Prize Distribution Ceremony to honour “Regularity Champions” for 100% attendance and to “All-Rounder Students” who successfully balanced academic studies, sports and active participation in co-curricular activities.
To close the event, Principal Ms. Vipanjot Sehdeva expressed her profound pride in the students’ stellar performances, noting that “Festival Mystique” beautifully showcased the power of global harmony. She urged the gathering to “carry the magic of this togetherness in our hearts, remembering that the world is a beautiful place when we celebrate it as one.” The evening reached its patriotic conclusion with the National Anthem, marking the end of a memorable celebration of togetherness and holistic growth.
